A Girls Weekend - Exploring Cape May Wineries and Shops

A lot of people ask if there is anything to do at the shore in the fall and winter and the answer is YES!! It's actually one of my favorite times to go to the shore! It's quiet, relaxing, many stores are still open and so are restaurants (with limited hours). If you are considering a trip away with your girlfriends, don't dismiss Cape May in the fall!

Wineries

Believe it or not, there are quite a few wineries, breweries and distilleries in and around Cape May NJ. To make it easier on our guests to plan, we created a complete list of all of them. If you want a few of our favorites, here they are:

  • Willow Creek Winery - Offering a full menu, Willow Creek is a great place to go and enjoy lunch with the family. The kids are welcome and so are your fur babies. They have a relaxed atmosphere and the food is great! They also offer firepit Friday and Saturdays starting at 5:30pm. It's a great place to relax by the fire with your girlfriends, catch up, laugh and enjoy each other's company over a glass (or two) of some of my favorite wine!

  • Cape May Winery - Cape May Winery is another favorite to go to and listen to live music. They have a rotating line up of talented local musicians performing every weekend. Times vary based on the day so check out their website before heading over. As a side note, everyone must be 21 years old to go and they do not have a full menu available.

Activities

There is so much to do in Cape May from tours, to shopping, to relaxing on the beach - you can't go wrong with a weekend getaway! A few resources and recommendations if you decide to book a weekend away -

  • Cape May Mac - They offer great trolley tours, house tours, walking tours and seasonal events throughout the year. We have done a trolley tour and it was great! They also offer other events such as culinary events, craft shows, Sherlock Holmes weekends, and don't forget about the magical experience of Christmas in Cape May! You will step back in time as the town is transformed for the holidays! It's a beautiful sight!

  • Washington Street Mall - Washington Street Mall is an iconic staple in Cape May. They offer so many cute boutique shops. I've always found it be a great place to find unique gifts for friends and family (and for myself too). Nestled between the shops are some wonderful restaurants too making it a great place to shop and dine all afternoon! While you are there, check out a horse drawn carriage ride around Cape May and learn about the history of the area.

  • West End Garage - This is l one of my favorite spots in all of Cape May. It's the winner of prestigious awards including Philadelphia Magazine and NJ Monthly's 'Best Of The Shore'. West End is a unique little shop over in West Cape May that offers something akin to an indoor flea market but upscale. The stands are tastefully decorated with all sorts of treasures to be found! It's a fun place to stroll and while you are there, check out their bakery for some sweet treats and coffee!

  • Beach Plum Farm - Beach Plum Farm is a great place to go and relax and enjoy nature. They offer farm to table food and even have a dinner series that you can check out online. We've been to several events here, and the atmosphere is great. Camp fires burning, good quality food served and a peaceful setting.

  • Holidays in Cape May and Wildwood - The holidays at the beach are amazing. The shore towns transform into a Winter Wonderland with lights and decorations for the holidays. You will find Christmas trees on the beach, holiday house tours of beautifully decorated Victorian homes in Cape May and several walking tours including a candlelight one in Cape May to look at the decorated streets of Cape May. Check out this list of events broken out by weekend to decide on some things you may be interested in doing while you visit.

  • Indulge in some pampering - If you want to really indulge yourselves, check out this list of spas to get a massage or a full day of pampering! What a great way to unwind and enjoy the solitude of being away from it all!

Seapointe Village

Seapointe Village a year round resort offering many amenities to both guests and owners. We have an indoor pool and hot tub that is open year round as well as several fire pits (perfect for relaxing by with a glass of wine) or overlook areas where you can sit and enjoy the gorgeous views of the ocean. We are also located directly on the beach so you can go and walk for miles along the ocean's edge and enjoy the sounds and smells of the ocean. In October the Cape May Bird Sanctuary opens up and you can walk along that beach amongst the dunes and the wildlife. Even in January, it's such a peaceful and enjoyable walk!

If you haven't already booked your fall/winter escape, it's time to do it now. The weekends fill up fast and there are only a limited number of places that will rent for a minimum of 2 nights. Seascape Diamond Beach is one of them but we only have a few weekends left so if you are interested, please reach out. We would love to host you and your girlfriends for a weekend getaway!
